Where to Go in the Poconos, PA
The Poconos. Oh-so-campy, but we can't help but love it. If you're in the tri-state area, it's a much cheaper alternative to the Hamptons and less crowded than the Hudson River Valley.
I spent a long weekend there with my family (e.g. husband, toddler, parents, brother, and an 80-lbs poodle, Ziggy). Here are 3 places to enjoy:
Jim Thorpe: a vibrant, historical town filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and restaurants.
Lake Wallenpaupack: a picturesque, serene lake abundant with recreational water activities such as boating, fishing, water skiing, and more.
Hickory Run State Park: a beautiful state park known for its diverse landscapes, picturesque waterfalls, and year-round recreational activities.
We booked an AirBNB through PoconoLand and they did not disappointment. With six properties to choose from and fabulous hosts, you can't go wrong.
We always love hearing from our community. If you have a gem of a destination to share, we're all ears. Travel safely and thrive!
24 HOURS IN AUSTIN
Austin, Texas - a city known for its vibrant culture, live music scene, and delicious food. Although 24 hours does not do it justice, here's what I did in a whirlwind trip thanks to dear friend:
1pm arrival
2pm Lunch at Elizabeth Street Cafe
3pm architecture tour of Bouldin Creek
5pm swim at Barton Springs
7pm Tex-Mex at Masa Y Mas on South Lamar
9pm gelato at Dolce Neve
- intended to see live music or go line dancin', but I crashed...
9am breakfast & coffee at South Congress Hotel
10am Lime scooter exploration
12pm BBQ at Terry Black’s
1pm departure
Although I don't recommend a Texas trip in the dead of July, Austin has a whole lot to offer. Whether you're a foodie, a music lover, or a culture-enthusiast, there's something guaranteed to delight and inspire.
P.S. Austin would make a great company retreat destination....food for thought!
